DCCC, $20 Million in Debt, Attacks Meehan for Fiscal Responsibility

Several news outlets have reported that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has begun running ads in the 7th Congressional District attacking Congressman Meehan for his strong stance on cutting wasteful government spending and bringing America’s deficit under control.

Yesterday, however, Politico called the DCCC's own finances a "mess" and reported that it was almost $20 million in debt.

It’s not at all surprising that the DCCC, under the leadership of senior House Democrats, finds itself $20 million in the hole after the 2010 election cycle. After all, the same House Democrats managing the DCCC led the 111th Congress to add more to the United States’ debt than the first 100 Congresses combined.

The DCCC should focus on getting its own fiscal house in order instead of attacking Congressman Meehan for working to bring America’s government spending under control.
