November 18th
Washington, DC - Late Wednesday, Congressman-elect Pat Meehan (R-PA/7) was elected by his colleagues to serve in one of three freshman positions on the House Steering Committee. The incoming freshman class has 84 Republican members, which comprises about one-third of the entire Republican caucus.
As a member of the House Republican Steering Committee, Meehan will play a key role in selecting full committee and subcommittee chairs and members in the House of Representatives.
"I am honored to have earned the support of my colleagues for this leadership role in the House Republican Caucus. I look forward to serving on the Steering Committee to ensure that my colleagues are seated on the committees that best fit their interests and expertise so that we can be effective in advancing our agenda for job creation and controlling government spending," said Meehan.
Fellow Pennsylvanian and freshman Congressman-elect Lou Barletta (R-PA/11) nominated Meehan for the position. Meehan is currently in Washington, DC attending orientation for incoming freshmen in Congress.
