Congressman Meehan Discusses Jobs and Transportation with Area Stakeholders
February 7th
SPRINGFIELD, PA – Congressman Patrick Meehan (PA-07) today hosted a roundtable discussion at Riddle Hospital focused on the importance of transportation to job creation. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congressman Meehan invited area stakeholders to today’s meeting to gain their feedback and insights.
“I appreciate the opportunity to hear firsthand from those that work every day to get people to and from school and work,” said Congressman Meehan. “I will take their knowledge and experience back to D.C. to make sure I am asking the right questions on their behalf. Transportation is one of the keys to creating jobs in our region. Making it easier for people to access public transportation will subsequently give them better access to jobs.”
Joining today’s discussion included representatives from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), the Delaware Country Transportation Management Administration, Riddle Hospital, and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, Penn State Brandywine, and the Delaware County Planning Department.
The group discussed SEPTA's Compass program, which provides tax saving incentives for employers and employees that use mass transit. They also discussed the Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC), a program that develops partnerships with businesses to help get employees to and from work.
