Congressman Meehan Seeks Answers from FAA Administrator on Airport Expansion

February 9th

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Patrick Meehan (PA-07) today released the following statement regarding Tuesday’s hearing with Federal Aviation Administrator Randy Babbitt on the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2011:

“On behalf of my constituents, it is important for me to seek direct answers from the FAA,” said Congressman Meehan.  “I sought clarification on eminent domain powers in relation to the Philadelphia Airport expansion.  I expressed my concern about the lack of a regional planning approach by the Philadelphia International Airport.  Although there is a need for an airport expansion, I believe a regional approach should be consideredwhen addressing regional delays.”

“I look forward to working with Administrator Babbitt in the FAA Reauthorization process, as this is a much needed multi-year extension that addresses the safe and efficient use of our nation’s airspace,” said Meehan.

Congressman Meehan is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee on Aviation.  The subcommittee on Aviation oversees aviation safety and infrastructure and the programs of the Federal Aviation Administration.
