DelCo Times: Meehan asks D.A. to probe his own petitions

March 11th

Here's a new one - a politician blowing the whistle on himself.

Pat Meehan, the GOP's likely nominee for the 7th District Congressional race, has asked Delaware County District Attorney Mike Green to investigate his nominating petitions after his staff found what could be problems with some of the signatures.

Meehan, himself a former Delco D.A., sent a letter to Green early Thursday after becoming aware of the situation Wednesday night.

Meehan likely will be facing off against state Rep. Bryan Lentz, D-161, for the seat being vacated by Joe Sestak, who is challenging Sen. Arlen Specter for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination.

More as the story develops.
