Lentz Cover Up

Lentz campaign covers its tracks after overwhelming evidence shows it helped get 3rd party candidate eligible for ballot
August 6th

DREXEL HILL, PA - Bryan Lentz's campaign for Congress appears intent on covering up evidence of campaign workers' involvement in efforts to place a third party candidate on the ballot as part of a cynical and deceptive political dirty trick.  Despite overwhelming evidence, Lentz still refuses to discuss the issue with reporters.  Without the 4,800 signatures collected by Lentz campaign workers and Democratic Party operatives and officials, the third party candidate would not be eligible to be on the ballot.

Since details of Lentz workers' involvement in the third party petition effort emerged, the Lentz campaign has frantically tried to cover its tracks.  A fundraising solicitation posted by circulator Julie Klein, in which she describes herself as a strong supporter of Lentz, has been deleted from the Democrat fundraising site Act Blue.  Despite the Lentz' campaign's efforts to cover up the close ties, the post can still be viewed using Google's web cache. On the campaign's Facebook page, tags of Klein on a photo of the opening of the new Lentz campaign office have also been deleted.

"Bryan Lentz's campaign workers are destroying evidence in an attempt to cover up its involvement in this cynical and unethical political dirty trick," said Bryan Kendro, campaign manager for Republican candidate Pat Meehan.  "Bryan Lentz cannot continue to dodge questions about the role he played in this effort.  If he directed his staff and volunteers to help coordinate this effort, or worse yet, cover them up, he needs to take ownership and explain his actions to voters."

The Meehan campaign has posted a memo online detailing the third party petition circulators' involvement in the Lentz campaign and the local Democratic Party, as well as a timeline of the scandal and cover up.
