Meehan Applauds Extension of Tax Cuts

December 7th

Washington, DC - Following the announcement that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts will be extended for two more years, Congressman-elect Pat Meehan (R-PA/7) issued the following statement:

"Last night's agreement gives small businesses and families something we've lacked for sometime: certainty.  Certainty to make investments that will create new jobs, certainty to take on new employees, certainty that will help restore consumer confidence, and certainty to plan for the year ahead.  After months of wondering what the tax structure would look like in the near future, Americans now know what they can expect for the next two years.  This is an important victory for the taxpayer and for job creators."

"I am pleased that the administration and congressional leaders were able to work together to come to this agreement.  While it is not perfect, it does provide the much needed assurance that will help stabilize our economy," Meehan concluded.
