Meehan Schedules Unprecedented 10 Debates in 7th District
In 2008, only one debate was held in the week before the election
DREXEL HILL, PA - Pat Meehan, the Republican candidate for Congress, has followed through on his call for a "vigorous series of debates" in the 7th Congressional District, scheduling 10 debates with a variety of media outlets and organizations between now and the November election.
"The number of debates we have scheduled and agreed to in this campaign are unprecedented in recent history for this seat," said former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan. "In the last election, the sitting Democratic Congressman agreed to just a single debate with his opponent less than a week before the November election. These 10 debates will provide voters with an opportunity to learn more about my record and position on the issues as well as my opponent's tax and spend record in Harrisburg."
Since the primary election, in which Meehan secured an impressive 9,000 more votes than his Democratic opponent in the midst of a heated Democrat primary for U.S. Senate, Meehan has worked with various organizations to finalize a debate schedule between now and the November election.
Meehan is hoping to hold his opponent, state legislator Bryan Lentz, to his commitment to debate Pat "any time, any place, any where" and his staff's statement to pa2010.com that Lentz would "play ball" with the 10 debates Meehan's campaign has worked to schedule.
