MEDIA, PA - Pat Meehan, the Republican candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District, earned the endorsement today of several Delaware County police chiefs, adding to his long list of endorsements by the region's law enforcement community.  The endorsement today is recognition of Pat Meehan's long record of combating crime in the region and his close work with local police as Delaware County District Attorney and U.S. Attorney.

He is one of us and knows firsthand the needs of the officers dedicated to protecting our region."

As U.S Attorney, Pat Meehan teamed up with the heads of other federal agencies, local police, and district attorneys' offices to fight gun crime.  He used federal firearms laws to put away the region's most violent criminals, and he developed a nationally recognized crime mapping program to allow, for the first time, law enforcement to share information electronically across county lines.  At least 130 homicides were solved directly because of Pat Meehan's work with local police under federal gun laws.  Furthermore, Pat Meehan shut down gun dealers who weren't playing by the rules, and Pat Meehan's office did hundreds of straw purchasing prosecutions and informed the public of the substantial penalties they would face if they bought a gun for someone else's use.
 
Today's endorsement is the latest in a long list of law enforcement endorsements Meehan has received in the weeks leading up to the election.  Earlier this month, Meehan was endorsed by the  Pennsylvania State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police, which represents 41,000 law enforcement officers, the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police, the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police and the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police.  Meehan was also endorsed by the region's District Attorneys from Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, and Bucks Counties.
